As the main character, Mick, just finished his summer vacation of taking steroids and shooting up. He got a lot stronger for the first day of tryouts. He made the First string and as i finished reading they are getting ready for the home opener. Mick finished the gym candy because of the season starting. I think he shouldn't take more during the season because as he came in to practice after the summer he had really improved on his game. He is 200 pounds and runs 40 yards in 4.5 seconds. They had to double check that time as they mad him do it again.
I think steroid will always be a problem for him because of the temptation of doing it again. As his reps increase by 1-5 each time he is still getting results. I think the trainer, Peter, who got Mick started on steroids. Will get him back on them as he decreases over time in the season.
Th conflict in the book has been the motivation to be a great football player. I think he will succeed if he doesn't do gym candy again. So far the book is really good and is just about a kid who wants to be like his dad as he follows his dreams. The dad was a running back and was a star in college but never succeed in the NFL. Mick will try to be like his dad but will never do it if he keeps doing steroids.
That is just what I think
